The Salinas Bowmen Archery Club was
established on August 1, 1947, and became incorporated as a non-profit organization on May 20, 1959. Throughout the years
Salinas Bowmen has been committed to promoting the spirit of good fellowship among all archers and has been instrumental in
introducing the great sport of archery to men, women, and children of all ages. The bald eagle is the official logo of Salinas
Bowmen. Known for its strength in flight and keen vision, the eagle has the ability to see far-off challenges. Salinas Bowmen
have faced many challenges throughout the years and will continue to soar in pursuit of excellence.
Our club has developed a 3-star NFAA-Certified outdoor archery range locate on Crazy Horse
Canyon Road. The 15-acre range consists of 28 covered compressed foam targets and one covered broadhead target. The practice
range consists of several covered compressed foam targets ranging from 10 to 80 yards. The newest addition to our range is
a 90 meter FITA lane with 2 targets.
Our club
has regularly scheduled shooting activities throughout the year. Monthly we hold a club shoot on the second weekend of the
month (you can shoot either Saturday or Sunday, or both days). Annually we host two marked yardage “open” shoots,
which consists of life-size 3-D animal targets and paper targets. We also host an eight week tournament that consists of unmarked
3-D targets. This is known as the “Big 8”. The Big 8 is typically held just prior to hunting season as it is a
great way to practice judging distances for hunting.
We
also have scheduled club hunting activities which range from frogging, carp fishing/shooting and squirrel hunting along with
other animals as the opportunity and idea arises.
Salinas
Bowmen strive to promote camaraderie amongst its membership and all archers. One way this is done is by hosting an annual
awards banquet where we gather together to recognize individual and club achievements.
